But if you mastered those correct charging skills of walkie talkie battery, you will last longer then the same battery capacity from others’ two way radio!
When we charge batteries, we should know them in different types should use different charging way:
Li-Ion battery:
Lithium-ion batteries have no memory effect, so they don’t need to be activated. You just need to charge the battery when the power is less than 10% or when the walkie talkie is low ( battery voltage may affect the talking range). When the battery is full, you can keep use your walkie talkie.
PS: Try to charge the battery full before using them, that is more conducive to protecting the health of the batteries.
Ni-MH battery:
Nickel metal hydride batteries have a memory effect, so regular charge and discharge management is required. First use of Ni-MH batteries required activation. The first three times’ charge should Continuous Charge more than 12 hours, then the battery has been activated.
PS: The memory effect of Ni-MH batteries is weak, but we suggest you charge the battery when it’s empty. And please full charge at one time then use it, this rational use keeps the battery get longer cycling life.
Ni-CD battery:
Nickel-cadmium batteries have a stronger memory effect then Ni-MH battery. The Ni-CD battery also need to be activated. The first three times’ charge should Continuous Charge more than 12 hours, then the battery can be activated.
PS: The Ni-CD batteries have a strong memory effect, it’s necessary to ensure to charge the battery after it’s empty. If you usually charge the Ni-CD battery when it still have power or use it when it’s no full charged, that may cause the battery has a bad memory effect. That will cause the batteries greatly shorten the battery life.
Recommendations: Ensure the Ni-CD battery is empty ( when you pressed the PTT of walkie talkie, it can’t normal transmit) before you charge it . Full charge the battery before you use it.
Precautions:
1. Chargers of different types of batteries (such as Nickel-Cadmium batteries and Lithium-Ion batteries) should not be mixed, otherwise the battery will be damaged;
2. Try not to charge the battery on the radio. If the battery charged with radio, the radio should be turned off, otherwise the battery life will be seriously damaged.
3. Lithium battery relative to other batteries, do not need to pay attention to it much, be careful not to over-discharge and over-charge. Please distinguish between different batteries and treat them differently in order to maintain the battery life and last the battery.
